Freedom Aid Ghana, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), with interest in providing healthcare to deprived communities in the country, has donated items worth thousands of Ghana cedis to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital Children’s Block.
The items, which were accompanied by cash, according to Freedom Aid Ghana Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr. Bright Adoboe, were aimed at assisting the hospital to serve patients better.
He said the donation was also a result of a call in the media by the hospital for help: “We heard in the news sometime ago that the Accra Psychiatric Hospital needed help from organisations and individuals, so Freedom Aid Ghana felt the need to help the Children’s Ward.”
During the presentation, Mr. Adoboe announced that the NGO, which was five years old, had played major roles in seeking the health needs of many rural communities that lack access to quality health and facilities, and also championing youth empowerment.
As this was the NGO’s first time of donating to a hospital, the CEO pledged to make it part of their plans, and also urged other organisations, agencies, churches, associations, and institutions, among others, to follow suit.
He also charged the families of patients to seek spiritual backing to hasten the healing process of their loved ones who find themselves in such unfortunate circumstances.
Frank Obeng Hene, Staff Nurse Female Observation Ward, who received the items on behalf of administration, thanked the NGO and called for more help in assisting the hospital.
