TLF Ebola awareness to doorstep

4f14240x_mg_qulx5cb543_9045937790276_2137978699006For some time now, the news about deadly Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) is gradually losing its threatening features among many Ghanaian populations, as some people have sought to their formal ways of doing things; meanwhile the disease has yet not been captured.

The Light Foundation (TLF) as part of its projects to tackle poverty and diseases in the country has embarked on nationwide Ebola Virus Disease awareness especially at borders towns to awaken the people of the danger looming about now number one world killer disease.

TLF that was established 2006 upon Islamic doctrine and principles aim at reaching at least 20 million Ghanaians, to be sanitized against EVD through series of creative and strategic approaches.

The foundation in it recently launched of Ebola education campaign project indicated that though Ghana has not recorded any case yet, it was important that the people are well informed about signs, symptoms, cause, prevention, mode of transmission.

As part of the acts to intensify education and awareness creation about Ebola, over 65,000 copies of educational materials would be distributed in six regions in the country, says the project coordinator, Hawa Sulamana Issiah.

She the foundation was look forward to secure and distribute number of Person Protective Equipment to health practitioners and immigration officers on the various border towns.

She said the campaign which also targets every tom, dick and harry will invite health expects to render education in churches, mosques and schools with not less than 100,000 population.

Also, there would radio programme on Ebola in English and local languages.

Hawa added that the foundation was poised to accomplish this mission because it had since provided health, educational and infrastructure support to vulnerable communities in the country.

Some remarkable successes chalked by the TLF to improve lives are 100 wells and boreholes in the Northern, Eastern, Greater Accra, Central and Ashanti region, scholarship packages for students and orphans, payment of hospital bills and skills training.
