The founder and leader of Rohi Global Ministries (RGM), Bishop Christopher Emmanuel Parsram, has appealed to churches, beer bars, industries and other outdoor function operators to minimise noise pollution levels in the country.
According to him, noise pollution was a risky health hazard and a silent killer, which could induce hypertension and cause blindness.
He said research had shown that noise pollution could cause irritability and indigestion, and adversely affect the fetus of pregnant women.
Bishop Christopher Emmanuel Parsram made the observation at his consecration as the Presiding Bishop of RGM, on Sunday at Ashally Botwe in Accra.
Noise pollution has become a public concern due to the negative impact it has on people.
This, however, has compelled the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to issue warnings to entities noted for making noise, to control it.
The EPA, therefore, issued regulations and guidelines to promote the health and safety of the society, and through the assistance of Metropolitan, Municipal and Districts Assemblies (MMDAs), individuals who flout the environmental law would prosecuted.
Bishop Christopher Emmanuel Parsram urged that churches must build edifices that would prevent environmental noise making.
A recent survey by the Ghana Statistical Service indicated that 70 percent of the total population was made up of Christians, but he noted that there were too many divisions in the Christian fraternity, and therefore, called for unity.
According to him, it was the prayers of the saints and righteous that would contentiously keep the country running on the wheels of peace.
He urged churches that were not under any umbrella body to do so, in order to bring sanity, dignity, and respect to the Christian body, saying, “Everything we do here, we would be accountable [for] to God someday.”
Bishop Parsram further appealed to the youth to invest their energy in profitable ventures that would help themselves, their families, and the nation at large.
Prof. Dr. Kofi Oduro, Senior Pastor of Alabaster Ministry, United States, in a sermon, charged him to exhibit quality leadership styles that would bring lost souls to the salvation of the Lord Jesus Christ.
He cited David in the Bible of not having formal education, but yet exhibited an excellent leadership role, adding, “David had no Political Science background, but because the hand of the Lord was with him, he was able to sail through [his] reign.”
